I was just going around my normal routine of opening my pc and updating my shop, when this article caught my eye.
I normally blog about trending topics and Yahoo news at work, but since this piece of news is so juicy and so close to my heart, I began to write one in this humble blog.
Yes, I am one of those kids who grew up with Disney princesses playing incessantly on TV, from beta max to VHS to VCD. DVD came on the rage when I was already in my teen years, so..
Here are 8 photos of such beautiful characters, that have enthralled all of those girls and girls at heart that dreams do come true and the possibilities of happily-ever-afters. :’)
“If Disney princesses were real”

(Princess Jasmine from Disney’s Aladdin comes to “real” life via a graphic artist’s rendering.)
We’ve always loved the Disney princesses in a fairy tale sense, so we’ve never imagined they were real.
*The first time I saw this, I thought it was Kim Kardashian! The resemblance, my goodness! :P

(Princess Aurora of “Sleeping Beauty” looks like a supermodel. Those cheek bones!)
But one graphic design student at the Arts University College at Bournemouth in the UK had the creative idea to bring Disney characters to life using photo manipulation.

(Pocahontas is working some Barbie-like proportions.)
Jirka Väätäinen told us, “I’ve always been interested in the way people look and what makes them unique in their appearances.

(Beautiful Belle may not fall for Beast right away, but he’ll find a way to win her over.)
This was a personal challenge for me to see if I could recreate characters that we all know and love, and try to maintain their unique features.

(We can understand why everyone is obsessed with Esmeralda, the stunning gypsy in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”)
The end results are what I would imagine the characters to look like in ‘real life,’ while still staying somewhat true to the unrealistic quirks in their original character designs.”

(If mermaids were real, Ariel of “The Little Mermaid” might look like this.)
Väätäinen said his interpretations of eight Disney princesses and one villain were created by combining elements from different photos of women who resemble the characters.

(Ursula the sea witch from “The Little Mermaid” was based on the actor/drag queen Divine. We can see the resemblance!)
He then creates composite images through digital painting and then puts them together.

(Megara from “Hercules” looks like she’s up to no good. Perhaps because she had to work for Hades.)

(And here’s his latest addition: Mulan!)
So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed seeing this as much as I did on posting it!
Happy New Year everyone! :*
xx, Vanessa
